It’s Giving Inner Child Work meets Artist Utopia

A group of dancers wearing pink and blue perform onstage. Four dancers crouch in a circle around a dancer who stands up and does a lasso motion.

RECITAL is an invitation to North Carolina-based artists to reconnect to the songs, images, and moments that first inspired their unique artistry. Through a combination of commissioned work and an open call for proposals, we curate a 75-minute variety show designed to showcase and celebrate our immensely talented local artist community. RECITAL holds space for performing artists to be silly, nostalgic, and joyful, while simultaneously yielding moments of profound emotion and connection.

RECITAL operates in a world of abundance, possibility, and trust. We’re committed to paying our administrative, production, and performing teams well, and offer a stipend, plus a percentage of ticket sale revenue to show participants once we meet our annual production budget break-even point. We’re sick of artists being asked to perform for crumbs and having to jump through hoops to prove they are “professional.”

● Show Lore

Miss Vicki and Ms. Victoria

Two women with curly red hair and stage makeup pose, making serious but funny faces. They wear witch-inspired costumes to honor the movie Wicked.

RECITAL is produced by Miss V and Ms. V School of Dance University. Where is this school and how can you attend?

Miss V and Ms. V have been working together for a very long time. Do they love each other? Do they hate each other? In a word, yes.

Both of these iconic divas have extensive performance experience, and they are two of the most premier off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off-off Broadway performers that the stage has ever seen. Miss Vikki was recently talent scouted by … ? and currently lives in Nashville. Ms. Victoria briefly lived in Times Square.

What exactly drives these two legends to keep doing what they do? Mostly, taking credit. But also, the spotlight, a costume budget, and the chance to bless the audience with their remarkable talent, wit, and all-natural (no makeup!!) beauty.

Are you star-struck? That makes sense.

Four dancers take a "smoke break" onstage with air cigarettes. Two dancers smoke and the others present their hands as ashtrays.

Miss V & Ms. V don’t do it alone (but they’ll say they do).

Dancers in green and black perform. One dancer lifts another, face looking strained. Another walks by and throws gold rose petals into the air.
